For one thing, I have an electronic copy of Mein Kampf, so I could just sit and let my computer do the reading aloud. For another, Hitler was not quite so one-sided; despite being paranoid, he complained about what mistakes he believed the Germans had made and worried that they will make more mistakes. Dawkins, on the other hand, has embraced his false dichotomy so deeply that he seems to think that true-blue atheists can never be irrational, evil, or stupid.

I get the impression that Dawkins read select passages of the KJV which other atheists marked as likely to be embarrassing without necessarily asking whether theists would take said passages in the same way as atheists might want to take said passages. My major problem with the KJV is primarily that English is not the original language of the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament. All translations are inherently interpretations, and the KJV is known to have some questionable interpretations. Besides, the Hebrew Bible is much better in the original Hebrew, much less archaic and more poetic than in English, not to mention the names actually make sense and do not sound like something out of bad sci-fi.Rupert Hippohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11625972476470777797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10195940.post-86046803909013866772009-04-27T22:48:00.000+03:002009-04-27T22:48:00.000+03:00Dear Aaron,

I couldn't get through two paragraphs of anything that Richard Dawkins has ever written without barfing, and you seem to have gotten through the entire "God Delusion" with your lunch still in place!

So which was an easier read, "God Delusion" or "Mein Kampf"?

Just one quibble, though. The King James Version of The Bible is the most beautiful work of literature in the English language. I don't think Dawkins knows anything about it.Rob Dillonhttp://www.cofc.edu/~dillonr/home.htmnoreply@blogger.com
