Beware of King James and Markov chains

Jewish date:  7 Ṭeveth 5774 (Parashath Wayeḥi).

Today’s events:  Human Rights Day (United Nations).

Greetings.

In the process of getting rid of open tabs in Safari, I bring you today’s weird thing: King James Programming, which describes itself as “Posts generated by a Markov chain trained on the King James Bible and Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs.”  The result is the periodic posting of such bizarrely silly things as “And Satan stood up against them in the table used by the programs external to the enclosing procedure” and “Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means unique to computer programming.”  Your humble blogger has no idea what the point of this is beyond silliness.  Enjoy and share the weirdness.

Beware of wizard climatologists

Jewish date:  7 Ṭeveth 5774 (evening) (Parashath Wayeḥi).

Today’s event:  National Pastry Day.

Greetings.

It has been way too long since I last posted on this blog (or my other one).  I have been busy with other things, and I expect to be busy a lot for a while.  Nevertheless, I ran across something totally weird I feel merits being shared:  “Middle Earth climate”.  Someone (using the pseudonym of “Radagast the Brown”) was actually goofy enough to model the climate on Arda, the fictional world of the past of J. R. R. Tolkien.  Enjoy and share the weirdness with the hobbit you love.
