Today’s news and commentary, for some of which Barry is responsible:
- “College urges euthanasia for sickest newborns” (Excuse me? Doesn’t “sanctity of human life” mean anything to these people?)
- “Gaza Clans Occupying Political Vacuum”
- “Hot for martyrdom” (This is a very odd perspective.)
- “Distorting Context through Photography”
- “Teen sex increased after abstinence program” (I’m all for promoting abstinence among the unmarried, but lying to people is not the way to do it.)
- “New Policy Ends Automatic Medicaid Eligibility for U.S.-Born Infants of Low-Income, Undocumented Immigrants” (Bush clearly has not thought out his policy rationally. Even if one is convinced that illegal immigrants do not deserve aid in any way, shape, or form (and that notion is religiously and morally dubious in the first place), it is shortsighted to make them an easy reservoir of infectious diseases or to withhold preventative care such that the cost to society will be increased in the future. Sometimes the best way to cut costs is, paradoxically, to spend more money!)
- “Not a slave, yet she was not free” (The book discussed in this article, Our Nig; or, Sketches from the Life of a Free Black, is available for free on-line.)
