Today’s news and commentary, some of which Barry is responsible for:
- “Eastern Front (1980)”
- “Mystery illness strikes after meteorite hits Peruvian village”
- “Astronomers find stars 7 billion light years away”
- “Milky Way Companions Just Passing Through”
- “New York State and City Sue Merck Over Vioxx” (Very interesting idea.)
- “Bees smother enemies to death”
- “Saudi women lobby king for driving right” (This is reminding me of a feature of Arab culture mentioned in The Saudis: Inside the Desert Kingdom by Sandra MacKey, namely a refusal to back down on anything in the name of “honor”.)
- “Sderot residents petition High Court” (Yes, ’Olmert and company are being negligent. You would think that if they could bomb Syria, they could bomb Gaza, which is a more immediate danger to Israeli citizens.)
- “Egyptian police kill Eritrean man trying to cross into Israel” (This is shameful and stupid. Putting the moral issues aside, if Egypt does not want these people in the first place, why not just let them leave the country in peace? It is better PR-wise, and it means they do not have to deal with dead bodies.)
- “"Dead" man wakes up under autopsy knife”
- “Study shows Americans getting lax about clean hands” (PAY ATTENTION! Washing your hands is for your own good and the good of everyone else around you, as this gets germs off your hands that can make people sick. Those who do not do so, as an epidemiologist I condemn you to having your mother lecture you about germs for three hours and ground you until you comply.)
- “ROBOT SWARMS INVADE KENTUCKY” (No, it is not quite what it sounds like.)
- “Bronze Age building uncovered near Gaza”
- “Looking for Scapegoat, World Again Turns to Jews”
