Weird thing of the day, 19 January 2005/9 Shevat 5765 (Robert E Lee's Birthday/Archery Day/National Popcorn Day)

Greetings.

Tomorrow is George W. Bush’s second inauguration, and boy, are people
still mad at him. The Cobb-LaMarche Campaign, to whose mailing list on
the recount I am subscribed, described what’s planned in detail:

> The Cobb-LaMarche Campaign
> Working to Make Every Vote Count!
> ----------------------------------
>
>
> THE "OTHER" INAUGURATION:
>
> HUNDREDS OF PROTESTS WILL MARK THE INAUGURATION OF THE
> SECOND TERM OF THE ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT
>
> In February 2003, the New York Times referred to the
> anti-war movement as "the world's second superpower." That
> movement will be launching its second term on January 20,
> 2005, as George W. Bush is sworn in for his second term as
> president. With the Bush administration shredding the Bill
> of Rights, rendering the Geneva Convention obsolete, and
> waging an illegal war and occupation of Iraq on false
> pretenses, the peace and justice movement cannot and will
> not wait another four years to hold the Bush administration
> accountable.

Some of these are definitely worthwhile visiting. Code Pink and “Not
One Damn Dime” Day have worthwhile petitions.

Considering all that’s planned for tomorrow, something totally weird is
bound to happen. I am so confident that am emptying out my inaugural
folder of already-noted weird things:
